The SsangYong Musso EX has won the ‘Best Pick-up for less than £25,000’ category in the 2019 What Car? Car of the Year Awards.

Commented Steve Huntingford, editor of What Car? “The Musso is an absolute bargain, and a great pick-up. For starters, it's more spacious than key rivals, and feels very well screwed together, while its 2.2-litre diesel engine also impresses, remaining smooth and subdued even under hard acceleration.”

Responding, Nick Laird, managing director of SsangYong Motor UK, said: “For an all-new truck launched only a few months ago to get such recognition from What Car? and against such strong competition speaks volumes about the Musso. This is a great result and fully endorses the brand’s value for money proposition.”

The magazine gives the Musso four stars for ‘Space & practicality’ and ‘Interior layout’, and says: “The SsangYong has one of the lowest list prices of any double-cab pick-up on the market. Despite this, it gets a strong 2.2-litre diesel engine and either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox. The Musso comes with a generous equipment list, too.”
SsangYong Musso
The all-new SsangYong Musso pick-up arrived in the UK last summer and is already disrupting the fast-growing pick-up market as a tough, strong and value-for-money 4x4.

Built on the same architecture as the new Rexton which has already been awarded ‘4x4 of the Year 2018’ by 4x4 magazine - Musso shares its body-on-frame construction to give an extremely strong vehicle that delivers excellent off-road driving performance and safety from its quad-frame and four-wheel-drive system.

The new Musso is an extremely competent multi-purpose truck with SsangYong values to the core - comprehensively equipped, an industry leading 7-year/150,000 mile warranty with a value for money package, plus a surprising level of interior refinement and great infotainment.

Designed to carry passengers in comfort and transport loads securely, the SUV-based Musso combines a five-seat crew-cab body style with a workman-like load deck that will take a full-sized Euro pallet. It also carries a payload of over 1-tonne and tows trailers of up to 3.5 tonnes concurrently to give the highest total load capacity in the segment. This combination of utility pick-up and SUV means Musso offers the perfect blend of functionality, practicality, performance and comfort to the driver and family or workmates.

Musso is powered by the same e-XDi220 engine found in the Rexton, and delivers a maximum power of 181ps at 4,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 400Nm at 1,600 to 2,600 rpm. It is available with either a 6-speed manual or an Aisin 6-speed automatic with its success proven by SsangYong and several other automotive brands.

Inside, Musso is exceptionally well equipped compared with other pick-ups, and as well as offering excellent shoulder and leg room front and rear, Nappa leather seats can be found on the top of the range model for added luxury and comfort. DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity feature across the range, while all but the entry level model feature a state-of-the-art infotainment system that includes an 8-inch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Wi-fi mirroring, or 9.2-inch screen with TomTom navigation on top line models. Prices start at just £20,995 ex VAT.

NEW Rexton The highly anticipated New Rexton is nearly here, building on the current generations award winning DNA. New Rexton builds on what Rexton does best, it's a big, very capable 4x4, 7 seat family orientated proper SUV that can tow up to 3.5 tonnes. The previous Generation was a multi award winning model, being crowned 4x4 of the year, for 3 consecutive years, for its superb value, capability, specification and industry leading and UK best 7-Year Warranty. The New Rexton carries this formula also, with impressive specification models that are all covered by the same 7-Year Warranty. Changes to New Rexton include that stunning front grille and bumper, that demands presence, LED front lights, LED rear lights, new design diamond cut alloy wheels and revised rear styling cues. The 2.2 power plant has also been heavily revised with the ULTIMATE models being mated to the amazing all new 8-speed shift-by-wire transmission that results in both increased performance & sophistication. Added to this a recent EU suspension and handling package, the new Rexton is sure to continue where the current generation left-off and collect even more awards. Its not just the exterior and under the bonnet that has been given the new Rexton treatment, the interior has also seen some great upgrades too, with a new 12.3 digital cluster that dominates the dashboard, similar to those found in New Korando & Tivoli. There's also a new centre console to help house that amazing 8-speed automatic transmission, along with a premium "D" cut, leather clad steering wheel. The New Rexton range has been simplified with the range now comprising of two models only. The Ventura model, which replaces the outgoing ELX and the range topping ULTIMATE. Both are offered with 12.3" instrument cluster, front & rear LED lights and 7-Seat automatic guise only. Pricing for new Rexton will be £37,995 for the Ventura and £40,665 for the ULTIMATE edition.
